• Our Schools work

Education is a priority for the Tanzanian Government. Primary school education has been free since 2002, so over 90% of children are enrolled in primary school. In 2015 Tanzania extended this to give every child the right to 11 years of free education, in the hope of improving rates of progression to secondary school. However parents may still have to pay for school uniforms and some other necessary items, while many schools are overcrowded and under-resourced. Heart for Africa’s schools work falls into 3 areas:

Gifts of books, pencils, etc. directly to under-resourced schools

On supporter trips to Tanzania, visiting schools in the Arusha area and engaging with children in sports activities

Working to set up partnerships between individual Rhondda and Arusha Primary Schools
