The gift of a goat is one that keeps on giving! Goats can provide women in Tanzania – many of whom are widows – with opportunities to earn a livelihood and improve their children’s nutrition. Goats are easy to raise and don’t require much space and with a pair of goats, it is likely that they will breed and produce kids which can be sold or given to other community members. Giving goats to the orphanages we support provides high quality nutrition for children who may be severely malnourished.

We also make gifts of cocks and hens to orphanages. This provides them with an ongoing source of protein through the eggs they produce. Like goats, cocks and hens provide the opportunity for a small business to develop if the receivers successfully reproduce them.
